If you’re new to the country and looking for ways to get from G to B, may I suggest these useful resources:
www.trainline.com and www.nationalrail.co.uk – for national train tickets. Prices increase as you get closer to departure date so book in advance to save money.
www.tfl.gov.uk – for planning your journey around London using public transport (including public bicycle rental) or for booking a famous black cab.
www.lastminute.com / www.expedia.co.uk / www.easyjet.com for booking internal flights.
http://www.addisonlee.com/ for booking a private cab collection in London.
CabWise – text CAB to 60835 (from your UK mobile) and you will receive a text with numbers of local cab services.
